How Great Thou Art

This is a song that is usually played at funerals which I go to, especially when it’s an older member from the black community. What I have noticed is that older members of the funeral, tend to sing certain hymns (such as Amazing Grace) without musical instruments at the graveside, and in perfect harmony, which sounds really nice. I will miss that so much when their generation has gone. Unfortunately my generation, and even my mum's generation do not sing like that anymore. So yep, I will definitely miss that when they are gone =(

I think this is a really good hymn to have as part of my Faith Memo as it means quite a lot to me, and it has a tremendous influence on my faith.

For some reason, during times of death, I feel that my faith becomes stronger. Do you find that you feel this too?

How Great Thou Art

Verse 1
O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder,
consider all the worlds thy hand has made.
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
thy power throughout, the universe displayed.

Chorus
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God; to thee,
how great though art, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God; to thee,
how great though art, how great thou art!

Verse 2
And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,
sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
that on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
he bled and died to take away my sin.

Chorus

Verse3
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart;
When I shall bow, in humble adoration,
and there proclaim; my God how great Thou Art!

Chorus
